Product safety is a vital factor of quality. A GS mark proves that your products comply with the highest German safety standards. It is therefore an important sales argument.
We are accredited by the ZLS for testing and certification of technical working equipment and commodities ready for use.
Our approval marks:
Production facilities of products with GS mark are subject to continuous inspections by the certification body in order to ensure a constant quality. Before granting the GS mark to a manufacturer for the first time a pre-licence factory inspection is conducted. Emphasis lies on the following aspects:

GS is not CE
The GS mark is a safety mark based on German safety standards. Although EU directives are transposed into German law, GS mark and CE mark are not equal.
The GS mark is a test mark proving the compliance of a product with German safety standards. It is granted by an independent, accredited testing body. A GS mark always entails a surveillance of the production.
The CE mark, on the other hand, is a declaration by the manufacturer. The manufacturer thus proves that his product complies with all relevant European directives. All products to be launched on the European market must be labelled with the CE mark. Production surveillance and testing by a notified test lab is only mandatory in exceptional cases for devices and machinery with a high risk potential.
However, conformity testing by an independent test laboratory gives you the certainty that all requirements are met. We perform the relevant tests and issue CE certificates of conformity. Furthermore, we support you in drawing up the EC Declaration of Conformity.
