Performance - energy label
Energy consumption labelling
Since 1 January, 1998, German law requires the labelling of several groups of electrical household appliances regarding their energy consumption. For this purpose, the EU label was designed, based on EU directives. For Germany, the EU directives are implemented by the Energy Consumption Labelling Ordinance (EnVKV). The aim of the energy label is to promote the development of energy-saving household appliances and create a public awareness for the conservation of natural resources and the protection of the environment.
The EU label includes the most important technical data of the appliance, such as manufacturer information, electricity and water consumption and noise emission. To give the consumer a quick overview at first sight, appliances are marked with the energy efficiency class they scored (A to G), with class A (A+, A++; A+++, respectively) for products with a very low energy consumption and class G for products with a very high energy consumption.
