We advise you on essential requirements for
CE conformity testing
For machines not listed in Annex IV of the Machinery Directive, the manufacturer can either conduct the CE conformity testing himself or apply to an authorised testing centre. An integral part of the test is determining and assuring, respectively, the conformity of the machine with relevant European directives. After a successful conformity test, the manufacturer labels the product with the CE mark and has to enclose a declaration of conformity in the machinery documentation in which he confirms with legally binding effect compliance with the applicable directives.
 |
Definition of CE conformity test
CE conformity testing means testing of machinery for conformity with all relevant directives, for example machinery directive, EMC directive, etc.
A CE conformity test can be conducted for all machines that are not listed in Annex IV of the Machinery Directive. |
 |
or
EC type examination
For machines and safety components presenting a particularly high risk the manufacturer or importer must not declare conformity with the applicable directives himself. A notified body listed in the Official Journal of the European Union has to test and confirm the compliance of the product with the relevant directives. This procedure, the EC type examination, is explained in Annex VI of the Machinery Directive, the corresponding groups of machinery are listed in Annex IV.
 |
Definition of EC type examination
The EC Type Examination is a procedure by which a notified body certifies that a machine's construction type complies with the respective regulation of the Machinery Directive. It is obligatory for machines as per Annex IV of the Machinery Directive. |
