Energy efficiency & Ecodesign

The efficient use of available ressources and the reduction of energy consumption are central topics of our time.

The EU has adopted various directives and regulations since the 1990er dealing with energy efficiency and labelling obligations for different product groups such as lamps and household appliances.

Since 2005, the so-called Ecodesign Directive defines requirements for the ecological design of products. While the first edition only covered energy-using products (EuP), the scope of the second edition from 2009 was extended to energy-related products (ErP).

The ecodesign directive is relevant for CE marking.
